7 Steps to Unlock True Life and Victory in Christ

Unlock True Life and Victory in Christ

Discover in 7 Steps how to Unlock True Life and Victory in Christ and experience the transformative power of daily surrender and obedience to our Lord Jesus Christ by Embracing the Cross

esus said in Mark 8.34, If anyone would come after Me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me.” Following Christ is a daily choice of obedience, humility, and surrender. Let’s reflect on what this truly means:

1. Deny Yourself

  • Don’t justify yourself: God is our Advocate (1 John 2:1). When we are humble and silent in the face of accusations, He will defend us. Choosing humility over self-justification allows God to glorify His justice.
  • Don’t condemn others: Romans 12:19 reminds us, “Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God.” God is our Avenger. We can release others to Him and walk in peace.
  • Don’t go against God’s will: Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths.” Even when God’s plan seems unattractive or unprofitable, obeying Him brings eternal rewards.
  • Restrain yourself: James 1:19 teaches us to be “quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger.” Avoid arguments, retaliation, and gossip. Discipline your words and actions in love and wisdom.

2. Take Up Your Cross Daily
The cross symbolizes a dual responsibility—toward God and toward humanity. Following Jesus means embracing both:

  • Obedience to God: Jesus took up His cross in full obedience to the Father (John 6:38). He fulfilled the divine purpose of His life without compromise.
  • Perseverance in trials: Luke 9:23 reminds us that taking up our cross is daily. Jesus obeyed God despite suffering, opposition, and ridicule.
  • Victory over sin and death: On the cross, He defeated Satan and destroyed the works of darkness (Colossians 2:14-15).
  • Forgiveness and reconciliation: Through His sacrifice, we receive forgiveness and are reconciled to God (2 Corinthians 5:18-19).
  • New identity in Christ: Believers are made children of God and citizens of His Kingdom of light (John 1:12, Ephesians 2:19).
  • Love demonstrated through suffering: Jesus suffered for sinners, even His enemies, to prove His love and draw humanity to Himself (Romans 5:8).
  • Life through death: He died that we might live (John 11:25).
  • Redemption and freedom: Jesus became our ransom, paying the price for our freedom (1 Peter 1:18-19).

Conclusion & Prayer for Grace
Lord, help us to deny ourselves and take up our cross daily. Grant us the grace to surrender our pride, control, and desires to You. Teach us to trust Your timing, restrain our tongues, and release our hurts to You. May we follow Jesus with unwavering faith, embracing the cross as the path to true life, forgiveness, and eternal joy. Strengthen us by Your Spirit, so that in every trial we reflect Christ’s love and victory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
