Claiming the Light While Walking in Darkness
- The Bible gives a solemn warning to those “Claiming the Light While Living in Darkness”.
- We can claim to be in the light while actually walking in sin—thereby deceiving ourselves and not living in the truth (1 John 1:6).
- It is possible to pretend, assume, or falsely claim to be right with God while deliberately continuing in sin.
- Such a life is not fellowship with God but self-deception which is in danger of hell-fire.
- Calling ourselves Christians while knowingly living in sin does not place us on the narrow way—it places us on the broad road that leads to destruction.
That is why Jesus warned so strongly in Matthew 7.21-23:
“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.”
There is a way that seems right to a person—religious, moral, even spiritual—but its end is death (Proverbs 14:12).
Remember Judas!
Judas walked with Jesus, heard His teachings, witnessed miracles, even ministered with power with other disciples when they were sent out two-by-two and appeared outwardly faithful—yet his heart remained unrepentant. Proximity to Christ is not the same as surrender to Christ.
Doers, Not Mere Hearers
- Scripture consistently teaches that obedience is the evidence of genuine faith.
- Only doers of God’s Word enter eternal life
- Obedience is how we please God
- Obedience is how we walk in fellowship with Him
The Bible clearly warns that those who persist in unrepentant sin—while rejecting God’s truth—will not inherit the Kingdom of God:
📖 Revelation 21:8; 22:15
📖 1 Corinthians 6:9–10
📖 Galatians 5:19–21
📖 Ephesians 5:5
📖 1 Timothy 1:9–10
📖 Romans 1:18–28; 9:22–23
- These passages are not written to condemn but to call us to repentance, holiness, and life.
- Work Out Your Salvation
- Salvation is God’s gift—but it must be lived out with reverence and obedience:
“Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.” (Philippians 2:12)
- This is not fear of punishment, but a holy reverence for God—a refusal to take grace lightly.
Final Reflection
- Light and darkness cannot coexist.
- Profession without obedience is empty.
- Grace that does not transform is misunderstood.
- True faith walks in the light, turns away from sin, and follows Christ—not just in words, but in life and actions.
🕊️ Closing Prayer –
Lord, search our hearts. Deliver us from self-deception, and lead us to walk in Your light with humility, repentance, and obedience. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
